Don’t let discouragement and despair rob you of the wonderful future
that God has prepared for you.
Whatever it is that may have caused misery in your home does not entitle
you to sit there and just give up. You can’t give up. You’ve got to encourage
yourself.
“Now David was greatly distressed, But David encouraged himself in the
Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).
Get your Bible out and read it. Go get those faith-building messages and
listen to them again. Go back and read those books again.
Encourage yourself. Don’t wait for somebody to come along with a special
anointing for encouragement. Encourage yourself.
Pick yourself up out of your distress, pull yourself to the mirror, and
say to yourself, “You can either stay distressed, or you can be of good cheer,
Which one is it?” If your head drops, pull it back up and say, “No, that’s the
wrong choice. You’re going to be of good cheer, you’re not going to let this
destroy you!”
Reach down on the inside of your spirit and begin to draw on all the
spiritual resources that abide inside you, saying, “You’re not going to give
up. You’re not a quitter, you’re a born winner. You’re born with the nature of
God. You are not defeated, you are victorious. This battle is not even yours,
it’s the Lord’s, and the victory is yours!
Confession: If God be for me who can be against me? I’m not going
to give up. I’m not going to quit. I’m a born winner. I am born with the life
and nature of God. I am victorious and I have the victory in every situation.
