How To Guard Your Heart?

The God-kind of love is in your heart because Jesus lives in you. It is one of the fruit of the Spirit. The love of God that is shed abroad in your heart will be a guard and protection when Satan tries to gain a foothold.

When you walk in love, you are walking in victory. You are also planting seeds for future success in all you do. Let’s look at what God’s Word says about love and meditate on it today.

“Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy; is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly.

Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it (pays no attention to a suffered wrong).

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances and it endures everything (without weakening).

Love never fails, (never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end)” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 AMP).

Confession: Father, I receive Your grace to love others like You want me to love.

Confident Faith

Your ability to stand on God’s Word and stay focused on what you can’t see yet with your eyes determines how much of the goodness of God manifests in your life.

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:35).

Every victory is made up of three parts:

1.         The initial assurance and confidence that God is going to come through.
2.            The season where it appears nothing is happening.
3.            The manifestation of the promise.

It is the second part that offers the greatest challenge. So how do we remain confident and stay patient when nothing appears to be happening?

We do what Moses did. The Amplified Bible says in Hebrews 11:26-27, “For he looked forward and away to the reward…for he never flinched but held staunchly to his purpose and endured steadfastly as one who gazed on Him who is invisible.”

Moses kept his eyes on the invisible reality, and not the natural circumstances. This ability to stay focused on the reward ahead was what enabled Moses to be faithful and fulfill the calling on his life.

Every challenge you face is an opportunity for you to build strength of character to endure the “nothing is happening” seasons of life. Determine to stay confident and endure with patience and you will see the manifestation of the promise.

Confession: I hold fast to my confidence and choose to continue in the will of God. I fix my eyes on Him fully assured that, in due season, I will receive the promise.

 

Face The Problem

God doesn’t want you to run away from any situation in defeat. Victory is always God’s plan.

Running away from problems and troubles—that’s society’s mentality. Just get in the car and go. “Oh, if I could just leave this place. If I could just get out of here.”

The psalmist David new this feeling when he said, “My heart is severely pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest” (Psalm 55:4,6).

When we’re in misery and we’re troubled, we can’t continue looking for the easy way out. Running from the problem’s that cause those feelings won’t do any good. If you avoid dealing with an issue now, you will only have to stand and face it later.

People often quit their job because of someone they work with, only to end up working with someone worse at their next job.

God wants you to learn to face problems and overcome them by applying His Word. He wants you to learn to work with unpleasant co-workers by overcoming evil with good. When they blame you for something you didn’t do, you bless them and help them.

Being a doer of the Word is not always easy, but it always works!

Later in Psalm 55, David changes his speech when he says, “As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me.”

God doesn’t want you to leave any situation in defeat. If it is God’s time to move you on, He won’t use negative circumstances to lead you.

Instead of running from the problem, decide to use the problem as a tool to deal with the character issue that you need to deal with! Face the problem, overcome it and move on.

Confession: I choose to face problems and apply the Word of God to overcome them.

 

Resist Oppression

Don’t fall for the devil’s trap of yielding to discouragement. He will use it to lead you to feeling hopeless and oppressed. As soon as you feel heaviness coming upon you, take immediate action.

“You will be established in righteousness. You will be far from oppression, so you will not be afraid. You will be far from destruction, so it won’t come near you” (Isaiah 54:14, GWT).

Isaiah 61:3 says that there is a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

What can you praise God for? Regardless of how you feel, begin praising Him for who He is. The God of love. The faithful and merciful God. The God Who delivers. The God who will never fails or forsakes you.

Thank Him for everything you can think of. For the specific times He has come through for you in the past. For sending His Son Jesus to die for you so that you would not have to spend eternity in hell.

Praise and thanksgiving will change your perception. It will move your focus from the bigness of your problem and onto the bigness of your God.

As you praise and thank Him, oppression will leave and encouragement, strength, and hope will return.

Confession: I am not moved by how I feel. I choose to praise and thank You Lord for all You have done for me. You are more than enough, You are faithful, You are good to me!

 

The Decision To Win

The Spirit of God said to me one time: “Son, if you are not willing to make a decision to win, then you are not going to win.”

Success begins with a decision to succeed.

The decision to succeed will produce an unwavering commitment to do what it takes to discover the spiritual laws relevant to your challenge (get wisdom), and to diligently apply them through to complete victory.

Nothing just happens or changes by itself. The Word of God shows how to make things happen.

God wants you to be successful even more than you want to be successful, but if you do not believe and act according to His Word, there is nothing He can do about it! However, when you do your part, He will always do His part.

Confession: I decide to win today. I make an unwavering commitment to do what it takes to get wisdom and apply it until victory is achieved.

 

The Force of Joy

Joy is a force that resides in your spirit. You may walk around all day long with a frown on your face, but that does not mean that joy is not in your spirit. It just means that you’ve suppressed it. You haven’t tapped into it.

Appropriating the joy of the Lord is a matter of choice, an act of the will. You can get up in the morning and will to be happy, or you can will to be unhappy. The choice is yours.

In order to walk in the joy of the Lord, you will have to reach down into your spirit and tap into the source of strength that you need.

The devil cannot rob you of your joy unless you let him. He will try to deceive you so that you choose not to tap into the joy inside of you. Without the joy of the Lord you will become weak and easy to overcome.

Nehemiah 8:10 says, “For the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Regardless of your frustrations and challenges, tap into the joy of the Lord today and choose to rejoice by faith. You will experience renewed strength.

Confession: I will not be deceived into letting go of my joy. The joy of the Lord is my strength and I choose to tap into that force of joy today. Regardless of how I feel, I choose to rejoice in the Lord.

 

Believe To See His Goodness

No matter how you feel or what your emotions are telling you, God has a great future for you if you will just trust Him. Not only has He got a great future for you, but He has a plan to get you there too!

Believing that you will see the manifestation of the goodness of the Lord is essential to staying strong in faith and walking into that bright future that He has prepared for you.

David wrote in Psalm 27:13-14 (NKJV), “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord;
be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”

What you believe determines how strong or how faint you become. If you allow discouragement and hopelessness to grip you, you will start to grow weak and faint. Believing in the goodness of the Lord will increase your strength.

Don’t let negative situations consume your vision. If that is all you see, you will forget the goodness of God and plunge into a pit of despair. Never lose sight of His goodness. God is a good God and He has good plans for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

Confession: I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord manifest in my life. I put my hope in Him and trust in His love and faithfulness to me. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.

Encourage Yourself

Don’t let discouragement and despair rob you of the wonderful future that God has prepared for you.

Whatever it is that may have caused misery in your home does not entitle you to sit there and just give up. You can’t give up. You’ve got to encourage yourself.

“Now David was greatly distressed, But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).

Get your Bible out and read it. Go get those faith-building messages and listen to them again. Go back and read those books again.

Encourage yourself. Don’t wait for somebody to come along with a special anointing for encouragement. Encourage yourself.

Pick yourself up out of your distress, pull yourself to the mirror, and say to yourself, “You can either stay distressed, or you can be of good cheer, Which one is it?” If your head drops, pull it back up and say, “No, that’s the wrong choice. You’re going to be of good cheer, you’re not going to let this destroy you!”

Reach down on the inside of your spirit and begin to draw on all the spiritual resources that abide inside you, saying, “You’re not going to give up. You’re not a quitter, you’re a born winner. You’re born with the nature of God. You are not defeated, you are victorious. This battle is not even yours, it’s the Lord’s, and the victory is yours!

Confession: If God be for me who can be against me? I’m not going to give up. I’m not going to quit. I’m a born winner. I am born with the life and nature of God. I am victorious and I have the victory in every situation.

 

Knowing God

When you really know and love God, everything else pales in significance. Your love relationship with Him becomes your driving passion and pleasing Him becomes your greatest desire.

The apostle Paul said “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8).

“The knowledge of Christ Jesus” is not talking about head knowledge but heart knowledge. Head knowledge makes the life of faith hard and dry. Heart knowledge reaches every part of your being and makes living by faith joyful and exciting.

God wants to be everything to you, to meet your every need.

The Christian walk without knowing His character and heart of love towards you would be a hard and difficult walk.

He isn’t hard and aloof, He is your loving heavenly Father.

He isn’t out devising trials and tests, He is your Comforter.

He isn’t out to hurt you, He is the Lover of your soul.

He isn’t concerned about your performance, He is a God that looks at the heart.

He doesn’t give you what your sins deserve, He is a God of abundant Grace.

He doesn’t want you to be just a servant, He longs for you to be His friend and child.

“For He is good, for His mercy endures forever” (1 Chronicles 5:13).

Confession: Father, I ask You to give me today, the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. I believe that You are opening my eyes to see more of Your goodness and Your heart of love towards me.

 

Established In The Word

“He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies” (Psalm 112:7-8).

Psalm 112 is the description of those who have their heart established in God’s Word. They are not afraid of evil tidings; they are not afraid of bad news; they are not moved by contradictory evidence; they are not moved by the woes and cares and pressures of this world. Their heart is fixed and settled trusting in the Lord.

You must realize one very important fact: the believer can live today in the midst of all the turmoil and the pressures in the world without being shaken by them. You can live with your heart established, trusting in the Lord, and not be afraid of anything.

The established heart knows that in every situation, God is more than enough, and He will meet every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I am convinced that this is the intention of the Father God to every believer.

Paul was established in the Word, and it made him able to stand victoriously, more than a conqueror! You, too, can stand in the midst of Satan, demons, sickness, disease, and even death itself and say, “I am persuaded that nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. I am more than a conqueror in all these things!”

Confession: Father, I choose to fix my heart trusting in You. I refuse to be afraid. I refuse to fear evil tidings or bad news, but believe that You will turn every situation for my good and for Your glory.

 

Casting The Care

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6-7, NKJV).

Casting the care of your problems on to the Lord and not taking them back isn’t always an easy thing to do. However, if you do not cast your cares on God, you will hinder Him exalting you above your circumstances or problems.

The Bible says that the devil is seeking those he can devour. One of the ways he seeks to devour you is by getting you to take on the care and pressure of your situation so that you are consumed with it.

When you do cast your care on the Lord, it activates the power of God to work in, and through the situation, and allows Him to bring miracles and victory.

God is not asking for us to pretend that problems don’t exist, but He doesn’t want us to take on the care. To take on the care means that you are constantly talking about the problem, thinking about the problem, worried about the problem, and in your mind, there doesn’t appear to be any way out!

God is a loving Father ready to help in your time of need. Cast your cares on the Lord today and He will exalt you!

Confession: Father, I come boldly to Your throne of grace and cast every care that I have been carrying onto You. I humble myself and trust that You care enough about me to work everything out.

Knowing Is Trusting

Faith is not a formula, it is a friendship. Knowing God intimately is the key to mountain moving faith.

“And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You” (Psalm 9:10, AMP).

What is faith?

Faith is simply believing God. If you have faith in someone, that just simply means you trust them and have confidence in them.

Knowing God intimately is the key to trusting Him with your present cares and your uncertain future.

God is not at a distance making it difficult for you to know Him better. He hasn’t made it hard so that only a few can get close to Him. God has His arms outstretched to you today wanting you to come to Him and experience what you were created for-intimacy with Him.

Getting to know God better is exactly the same as getting to know a friend better. You hang out with them more. You open up your heart to them more. You listen to them. You make more of an effort to bless them and do what makes them happy.

By meditating on scriptures regarding the character of God, His love, mercy, compassion, kindness and goodness, you will find yourself drawing closer to Him.

You will have a greater desire to spend time talking to Him and to be in His Word.

Knowing Him more intimately will automatically increase your trust level and your confidence in His ability and desire to come through for you.

Confession: Abba Father, I desire to know You more intimately. I commit to spend quality time with You. As I meditate on Your Word, thank You for giving me fresh revelation of Your character and love.

 

Enough is Enough

Are you faced with situations that cause you to shout, “Enough is enough!”

Are you fed up with the enemy causing havoc in your life?

“But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck” (Genesis 27:40, NIV)

When you have finally had enough with constantly battling things in your life, you will throw the devil’s yoke from off your neck!

If things aren’t too bad, we have a tendency to put up with, tolerate, and endure the trouble. However, when they get to a certain point, we become desperate enough to do whatever is necessary to get free.

The Word of God is not a defensive weapon. It is referred to s the sword of the spirit—it is an offensive weapon. It is to attack with! The Word is always available for you to use against your adversary, but you have to be uncomfortable enough to pick it up and apply it. You have to reach the point where you grow restless over what is happening to you.

When you get uncomfortable enough, and restless in your spirit, you will rise up and use your authority in Jesus to throw off the yoke.

Your life will change when you declare, “Enough is enough” and take steps to your freedom!

Confession:

I rise up and use the authority that Christ Jesus gives to me. Devil, in the Name of Jesus Christ, I break your yoke from my neck right now and proclaim that you have no dominion over me. Jesus has already set me free from you and I choose to walk in that freedom today.

Free To Enjoy Abundant Life

Jesus came to set you free from every form of bondage so you can have an enjoyable, rewarding, and satisfying life. If you feel overpowered by anything, Jesus wants you to be free from the power of that thing.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10)

It is not God’s will that you put up with anything that robs you of life to the full. He is a good God; He wants you to enjoy your life!

He wants you to be free to become the person that He created you to be. He doesn’t want you crippled in your emotions, tormented in your mind, or sick in your body. He doesn’t want you bound by insecurity, fear, or sin. He wants you to be free to fulfill the assignment that He has for you to complete and live the abundant life.

Just like a good father wants to see his children free from bondage, how much more does God want to see His children set free!

So how do we get free?

“If ye continue in My Word…ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32).

As you spend time reading and hearing the Word of God, He will show you the truths that you need to understand to walk in your freedom. He will expose the hidden lies you have believed. He will speak to your heart and His Word will set you free.

Confession: Jesus has set me free from every bondage to live and enjoy an abundant life!

 

Heaven on Earth?

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Your needs should be met now as if you were already in heaven, because legally you have everything available to you that Jesus has.

“Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

“Hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).

No longer see yourself trying to get something from God. He has already given you everything you will ever need! The problem is not with God giving, the problem is with our receiving.

See yourself with the abundance that you actually have in heavenly places and this abundance will start to manifest in the physical realm.

Be diligent to imagine yourself seated in heavenly places far above all principality and power. Imagine yourself in a place unaffected by Adam’s curse. No poverty, no lack, no sickness, no anxiety, no pain or depression. Just an abundance of every good thing.

As you consistently perceive yourself living in heavenly places, your natural circumstances will start to change and come into line with that spiritual reality.

Confession: I am seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. In Him every need is met and I have an abundance to give to those in need. I receive all the blessings God has for me!

Father's Protection

One of the greatest ways the devil can get an inroad into your life is by tempting you to fear. Fear will undermine your faith. Fear is faith in the devil. As a child of God you have your Father’s presence and protection.

“I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage” (Joshua 1:5).

“I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20).

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalm 91:11).

Faith is the spiritual force that activates the supernatural protection that is yours in Christ.

Before Joshua went in to possess the Promised Land, God said to him in Joshua 1:9 (AMP), “Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua could only take the Promised Land by refusing to fear and believing that he had the Father’s protection and that God would never fail or forsake him.

God has a plan and a purpose for your life, a land for you to take, and a mission for you to accomplish. He promises that He will be with you every step of the way.

You can rest secure in His promise of protection knowing that He is with you always, even to the end of the world. He will see you through to your promised land.

Confession: I refuse to worry or fear about present and future circumstances. God is with me, protecting me every step of the way.

 

Worry-free Living

It is impossible to worry and trust God at the same time. Worrying is dangerous for many reasons: one of them is because it is a form of unbelief. When we worry, we doubt God’s love and His ability to come through for us.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace, which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7, AMP).

Think that everyone worries? Not so! It is not true that everyone worries. Many people live worry free, choosing to trust God instead. You were not designed to carry the worries and cares of life yourself.

Living worry-free is simply a decision. You can choose to stop worrying and enjoy peace instead.

How to stay worry-free:

1. Isolate the specific worry.

2. Recall or discover what the Bible says about the situation/worry.

3. Choose to believe what the Bible says.

4. Thank God for being faithful to His Word.

1.  Reject all temptation to take back worried feelings.
2.  Reject every worry by thinking immediately of God’s promise and His character.

Apply this principle to every minor care and every major concern, and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind.

Confession: I choose to trust God. I will pray and give Him praise instead of worrying today. Thank You Lord for Your peace that guards my heart and mind.

No More Conscience of Sins

In the Old Testament, under the Law, God’s people made sacrifices to cover their sins, but it did not remove their sins. If they had truly been cleansed, they would not have had sin consciousness.

“Because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins” (Hebrews 10:2).

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14).

Condemnation points to your sin. The blood of Christ points to God’s forgiveness and mercy. Condemnation makes you aware of your failure and weakness. The blood of

Christ makes you aware of God’s grace and mercy. Condemnation highlights your inability. The blood of Christ frees you to walk in His ability and power.

Romans 4:15 says, “Where there is no law there is no transgression.” You are no longer under the law but are under grace, therefore you should not be transgression conscious, but righteousness conscious.

Developing a righteousness consciousness produces great personal freedom. You can live as God intended, enjoying life free from the negative thoughts and emotions that try to burden you down.

Only through Jesus are you free from sin and its effects. The price He paid was greater than any sin you’ve committed. You can walk with your head high knowing your sins we not just covered, they were purged.

Confession: Thank You Jesus for shedding Your blood for me. Because of Your sacrifice, I am redeemed and free from sin and condemnation.

 

Boldness Before God

Remaining conscious of your righteousness in Christ will give you boldness before God and make your fellowship with the Father more intimate.

You will have confidence and boldness to come before Him and talk to Him as your best friend. There will be no sense of inferiority because you know that He looks at you and relates to you as if you are as perfect as Jesus.

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have me known unto you” (John 15:15).

God doesn’t just want servants, He wants friends. He didn’t create Adam to have someone grovel at His feet with his face in the dirt. No! He wanted a man He could walk and talk with in the cool of the day (see Genesis 3:8).

Through Jesus’ sacrifice, the intimate relationship that Adam had with God before sin is now available to every believer. So come boldly to the Father today, secure in your righteousness in Christ, and talk to Him as you would a close friend.

Confession: Father, I come boldly before You knowing that You see me righteous and clean because of Jesus. As I share my heart and thoughts with You, I believe You will share Your heart and thoughts with me.

 

Quick Reminder

Are you dissatisfied on the inside? Do you feel like your spiritual walk has dried up? I want to remind you of some things today that will refresh your spiritual life.

In 1 Corinthians 15:1 (AMP), the Apostle Paul is writing to born-again, spirit-filled believers, and he is saying that he needs to remind them of something. Many times we think we need for the minister to bring us a new revelation no one has ever heard, but we don’t. We need to be reminded of the truths that have escaped us.

Verse one reads, “It seems to have escaped you, brethren, of the Gospel (the glad tidings of salvation) which I proclaimed to you, which you welcomed and accepted and upon which your faith rests.” Paul must have encountered the same situation because he is saying, HOLD ON TO WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED, REMIND YOURSELF OF IT! If it was necessary in his time, it’s even more necessary for us.

Some Christians have the attitude, “I’ve heard it before” or “I already know that.” We must understand that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Faith comes by hearing the “rhema” of God. Faith comes when the Holy Spirit reveals the truth afresh to you. Faith comes when the Word drops from your head into your heart.

As you review and remind yourself of the things you’ve learned before, ask the Holy Spirit make it a fresh revelation again.

Confession: Holy Spirit, I ask You to give me a fresh revelation of the basic truths that set me free. I ask for a fresh revelation of the power of Your Word, faith, and Jesus.

 

The Father Heart Of God

God is not a harsh judge but a loving Father. He knows how to and wants to give good things to His children.

Jesus said in Matthew 7:11: “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Knowing God as your loving heavenly Father is essential if you want to enjoy your walk with Him and fulfill all the wonderful plans He has for your life.

Your Father is for you. He is with you every step of the way.

Your Father’s motive is always love. Even when you think He is spoiling your fun, He is actually protecting you from something that will harm you.

Your Father wants you to succeed at all you set your hand to do. He will show you how to be successful; He will encourage you to keep going and to never quit.

Your Father picks you up if you fail and fall. He binds your wounds and sets you on your feet again.

Your Father wants the absolute best for you in all that you do. He is disappointed when you settle for less than you could have.

Your Father delights when you come to talk to Him. He loves to share His wisdom and counsel and show you the way to go.

Regardless of how you have viewed God, the Word says that He is the perfect Father. Will you let Him be a Father to you?
